Alternating Ming Variation (With and Without Fillings)

Ming stitch is a personal favorite of mine.  This variation alternated the orientation of the Ming pattern to create a flower shape.  This is a lovely background in one shade of silk if carefully laid so the light reflects.

You can add various filings (cross stitches, Smyrna crosses, plus signs or beads) in the empty spaces if you want to add texture.
