Caswell Lattice with Fill Stitches. UPDATED

This beautiful lattice stitch creates a beautiful background or clothing.  Sheena diagrammed a selection of fill stitches but you can also leave the centers blank if you wish. I thought this was named after Ann Caswell but Ann tells me I am wrong.  This is what she emailed me--

"This would be so much fun if it were true, but I feel compelled to set the record straight. The Caswell Stitch was first published in one of Father Bob’s compilations of stitches. As I understand it he had a devoted group of stitchers who used to meet regularly to enjoy needlepoint and fellowship. He loved to develop new stitches and would name them after things familiar to him. This particular stitch was named for a county in North Carolina. However, upon meeting me and my husband  he said the stitch’s complexities could have just as well described us as a couple. We were very flattered, and I love our connection to the stitch."

Thanks for letting me know, Ann. I'll always think of you when I use it, however.
