Small Diagonal Leaf Variation
We're moving on from grass and bushes (or maybe tiaras, flowers, and dragon scales) to leaves this week. Sheena created Small Diagonal Leaf Variation to use as leaves on a tree.

The left leaf on the bottom row shows the way this stitch is worked. It would look great as a border as well as the leaves on a tree. There is a lot of open space in this stitch so use a slightly lighter shade than your tree is painted to introduce dimension to your tree leaves. It will look like they are casting shadows on the tree's green area and fool the eye into thinking there are more leaves than you actually stitched.
This stitch has a feathery look so you could use it on a bird, either a few as tail feathers or in a group for a bird's feathery breast.
