Snowflakes with Oblong Cross
Today's snowflake stitch is called Snowflakes with Oblong Cross. It is a very open stitch, so you'll have to plan your stitch path carefully. I suggest you work the outside of the diamond edges first, then tie off your thread. Then work the oblong cross in each center separately, tying off after each one. Alternatively, you can use tent stitches among all the snowflakes to cover or put a piece of sparkly fabric like silver or pale blue lamé behind your needlepoint to help hide the traveling threads on the back. Remember that a dark thread will show worse on the front than a light thread unless your canvas itself is dark.
